Flu Shots: Wed, Oct 14
The flu vaccine is especially important this year.  Getting vaccinated will help to protect yourself and others, including those at high risk.  TVSC will be holding a Flu Clinic on Wed Oct 14, from 1pm-2:30pm.  No appointment is needed.  You must wear a mask, and COVID screening questions will be asked as you enter the building.  Please remember to bring your Insurance Card with you!

'MEALS ON WHEELS' PROGRAM:

TVSC's 'Meals on Wheels' program offers home cooked, nutritional, well balanced meals that are overseen by a registered dietitian. The meals are prepared twice a week on site by our TVSC cook and volunteers. These meals are delivered by dedicated volunteers to home bound and disabled residents unable to cook for themselves for one reason or another.

Residents can receive hot meals on delivery days (currently Monday and Wednesday) as well as home cooked frozen meals (microwaveable) for other days if requested. All meals are prepared and packaged at the Center, and dietician approved. You do not need to have a physician's order to receive meals at your home. Anyone age 60 or older, home bound, recovering from hospitalization, rehabilitation, unable to cook, or finding it hard to cook because of food supply or transportation issues can receive meals with just a phone call to Rita Copeland at (802) 223-3322.

You can receive as many meals as you need each week to help address your situation. You may receive meals for long term or short term, whatever will help you have the proper daily nutrition to help you remain healthy and in your own home.

A donation of $5.00 per meal is suggested, but meals will be delivered upon request regardless of ability to pay. Our program is partially covered through a contract with Central Vermont Council on Aging through the Older Americans Act. We are reimbursed $3.50 per meal. The remaining cost of the program is funded by donors and fundraising efforts. We want to make sure that no senior in the six towns we serve goes hungry.

We provide a wide variety of services, ranging from information resources to referral programs. We offer free healthy exercise programs including Bone Builders, Tai Chi, Yoga and Meditation classes.  We also host 6 week art classes with various instructors.  With the collaboration of other agencies, we are able to offer blood pressure clinics, foot clinics, and even tax preparation services throughout the year.  We also collaborate with youth and student organizations to assist in youth skills development and hopefully, bring a more multi-generational center that everyone will enjoy.

The senior center serves approximately 1,000 meals monthly on-site and through the 'Meals on Wheels' program. These meals are by donation only, regardless of ability to pay.  Reservations are not required for on-site meals at the Center unless a group of four or more are attending the luncheon in which case a call to the center at (802) 223-3322 would be greatly appreciated. We encourage you to come and have lunch at the Center to find out what your local Senior Center is all about and to see everything that takes place at the Center.

There are no membership dues required for any of our health related services. Our goal is to help keep you healthy and to be able to remain in your own home. We have free bus transportation door to center for the six towns that we serve. These towns are  Woodbury, Calais, Cabot, Marshfield,  Plainfield and East Montpelier. Anyone regardless of age from any where can attend the Senior Center.

Being alone is a very big part of aging and socializing at the Center does help.  You may think you will not know anyone, but it is practically guaranteed that you will know someone there! At one time we had two ladies who lived in New York City who never knew each other until they got to talking at the Center and found out they had attended the same school, while in the same grades in New York. So the point is, it is a very small world and you will never know unless you visit.
